On 11 May, the German-Azerbaijani Chamber of Commerce (AHK Azerbaijan) organised the next AHK Impuls event for its member companies sponsored by PASHA Property Management LLC. The event was dedicated to tax legislation and administration in Azerbaijan. The honorary guest speaker of the event, Mr Orkhan Nazarli, Chief of the State Tax Service under the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan, delivered a speech on "Emerging Challenges for Azerbaijan's Economy: Tax Reforms to ensure Sustainable Development".
Opening the event, Chairman of the Board at AHK Azerbaijan, Mr Farid Isayev welcomed the member companies and greeted the representatives of the diplomatic missions participating in the event before handing over the floor to the honorary guest of the event Mr Orkhan Nazarli.
In his speech, Mr Nazarli provided detailed information on the reforms carried out in the tax system in recent years, the policy implemented to minimise the "shadow economy", the prevention of unfair competition, strengthening control over the activities of taxpayers engaged in non-commodity and risky operations as well as on the introduction of legal incentives. He informed the members of the Chamber about the development strategy of the tax system for the medium term, the main directions of tax policy, the improvement of the digital platform of the State Tax Service, new electronic services for taxpayers and digital projects.
Considering the interest of the State Tax Service in establishing a healthy dialogue and ensuring public participation in decision-making, the Service Chief emphasised the importance of the cooperation with the AHK Azerbaijan in contributing to the dialogue between the state, entrepreneurs and the public collaboration.
Concluding his speech, Mr Nazarli expressed his gratitude to the AHK Azerbaijan for the given opportunity to have a direct dialogue with the representatives of the private sector. The event was concluded with a networking lunch.
