aynur.vahabova@ahk-baku.deThe AHK Azerbaijan successfully organized the German-Azerbaijani Networking Reception on 2 June as part of Baku Energy Week 2026, bringing together German Pavilion exhibitors, Azerbaijani government representatives, energy experts, investors, and business leaders to discuss opportunities for cooperation in the fields of green energy, energy transition, and sustainable development.
The event was opened by Nargis Wieck, Executive Director and Executive Board Member of AHK Azerbaijan.
The program featured a keynote address by Samir Akhundov, Chairman of the Board of the Azerbaijan Energy Regulatory Agency (AERA), who provided an overview of Azerbaijan's renewable energy agenda, ongoing regulatory developments, and the country's strategic vision for diversifying its energy mix. He also highlighted the growing opportunities for international investors and German businesses to contribute to Azerbaijan's energy transition and the development of renewable energy projects.
Industry insights on the energy transition were shared by Turgut Bas, Senior Business Development Manager Caspian/South at Uniper Global Commodities SE and representative of the AHK Azerbaijan Energy Transition and Sustainability Working Group, who highlighted key developments shaping the energy transition and the importance of regional cooperation in advancing sustainable energy solutions.
Participants also heard a presentation from Maxim Zubov, Vice President - Turkiye, Central Asia and Western Europe at Siemens Energy Global GmbH & Co. KG, on the role of emerging energy corridors in ensuring affordable, resilient, and secure energy supply. His presentation highlighted the importance of infrastructure connectivity and technological innovation in supporting future energy systems.
The official programme was followed by a networking reception, enabling participants to exchange ideas, establish new contacts, and discuss potential future partnerships.
As a key side event of Baku Energy Week 2026, the reception reaffirmed the importance of German-Azerbaijani economic cooperation and highlighted the shared commitment of both countries to innovation, sustainable growth, energy security, and long-term business collaboration.
The reception was organized within the framework of the German Pavilion at Baku Energy Week 2026, supported by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy of Germany.
