Meeting of the Digital Transformation Working Group

On August 12, 2025, the Digital Transformation Working Group of the AHK Azerbaijan held a session titled “The Importance of Artificial Intelligence and AI Agents and Their Application in Organizations”.

The session was opened by Chairperson Fakhri Huseynov, who emphasized the importance of pooling expertise from both the business and public sectors for the digital transformation of Azerbaijan and highlighted the central role of artificial intelligence in improving efficiency, competitiveness, and innovation. This was followed by remarks from Vice Chairperson Aykhan Abdullayev, who stressed the need to understand both the technical and strategic aspects of AI agents, calling for open dialogue and cross-sector collaboration.

The guest speaker, Dr. Gunay Kazimzade, AI expert at Mercedes-Benz Consulting GmbH, underlined the great potential of AI agents to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and improve decision-making processes in both the private and public sectors. Using international examples, she demonstrated how these technologies can automate complex processes, support strategic planning, and preserve valuable organizational knowledge—with the ultimate goal of fostering innovation and long-term competitiveness.

She also discussed opportunities for international cooperation, pointing out Azerbaijan’s strong technological growth potential, while noting that bureaucratic and regulatory hurdles had led to missed opportunities in leveraging global funding and expertise. She recommended closer cooperation with international organizations such as the United Nations, UNESCO, and the Council of Europe, and referred to best practices from Germany, Singapore, and Estonia as potential models. Regarding Azerbaijan’s upcoming national AI strategy, she advised linking local companies more closely with global innovation networks.

The meeting provided participants with the opportunity to exchange ideas, identify existing gaps, and discuss them.
