Webinar on infrastructure, energy storage and e-mobility.

Webinar: Energy Infrastructure, Energy Storage & E-Mobility

On 3 September 2026, AHK Azerbaijan, together with Renewables Academy (RENAC) AG, held the webinar “Energy Infrastructure, Energy Storage & E-Mobility”, highlighting opportunities for German small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Azerbaijan’s energy sector. Discussions focused on grid modernisation, battery storage and electric vehicle charging infrastructure, alongside practical guidance on market entry and investment.

The programme featured Ms. Laura Scharlach, Unit Director, International Trade Promotion at RENAC AG, and Ms. Julia Egel, Head of Stakeholder Engagement and Partnerships at AHK Azerbaijan. Ms. Egel outlined opportunities for German technology and service providers and the Chamber’s support for market entry, partner search and business development.

Mr. Elchin Targuluyev, Director of Technology and Innovation at SOCAR Green LLC, examined the role of battery storage in integrating renewable energy and maintaining grid stability. His presentation highlighted the 250 MW / 500 MWh battery storage project at Absheron and Aghdash and the potential contribution of storage to green electricity exports.

Mr. Fuad Mushtagov, Head of Hydrogen and Green Technologies at the Azerbaijan Renewable Energy Agency, presented Azerbaijan’s renewable energy expansion plans, grid development initiatives and regional green energy corridors, alongside ongoing work on hydrogen development.

Addressing the business framework, Mr. Elchin Usub, Head of Representative Office at RÖDL & Partner LLC, explained market entry options, renewable energy project agreements, tax incentives and investment protection. Ms. Annika Richter-Rahman, Underwriter for Africa and Eastern Europe, Southern Caucasus and Central Asia at Euler Hermes, discussed financing-related support and risk protection.

The webinar served as a preparatory session for the Energy Trade Mission to Azerbaijan: Infrastructure, E-Mobility & Storage, taking place in Baku on 7–10 December 2026. Organised by RENAC AG in cooperation with AHK Azerbaijan under the German Energy Export Initiative, the delegation will offer German SMEs tailored B2B meetings, industry exchanges and project visits to explore business partnerships in Azerbaijan.
