Success Stories: German-Azerbaijani Renewable Energy in Action

The event also highlighted practical achievements of bilateral cooperation, with four flagship projects demonstrating the impact of innovation, sustainability, and partnership:

  • Smart Village “Ağalı” Hydropower (AS Group LLC & Rehart GmbH):
Presented by Ramiz Mammadov, Director for Energy and Industrial Innovations of AS Group LLC, this project showcased how German hydropower technology can be successfully implemented in Azerbaijan. Using Archimedean Screw Turbine technology, it delivers high efficiency and environmental compatibility, while integrating seamlessly into sensitive natural areas. Completed in record time, the initiative marks a milestone in decarbonization, decentralization, and the creation of sustainable infrastructure in the liberated Zangilan region.
  • SOCAR–Uniper Energy Efficiency Modernization:
Vusal Safarov, General Director of SOCAR-Uniper LLC highlighted the comprehensive upgrade of the Azerikimya steam generator complex. By expanding generation capacity from 8–10 MW to 65 MW and introducing a new 36 MW steam turbine, the project has boosted efficiency above 90%. The initiative cut annual gas consumption by 3.1 million m³ and reduced CO₂ emissions by 6,600 tons, standing as a model of operational excellence and environmental responsibility in Azerbaijan’s industrial sector.
  • Floating Solar Power by Provitaz LLC:
Emin Mammadov, CEO of Provitaz LLC introduced the company’s pioneering 100kW floating solar installation — one of the first of its kind in the region. The project reflects Provitaz’s commitment to decentralized, innovative energy solutions and demonstrates the potential of renewable technologies for both industrial and residential applications in Azerbaijan.
  • SOCAR Green – Driving the Energy Transition:
Elchin Targuluyev, Solar and Wind Energy Expert of SOCAR Green LLC presented SOCAR Green’s growing portfolio of solar and wind energy projects.
