The AHK Azerbaijan hosted the first German-Azerbaijani Export Finance Conference 2025, which brought together over 200 participants and and more than 40 German companies from various sectors.
The goal of the conference was to strengthen bilateral cooperation between Germany and Azerbaijan in the fields of export finance, innovation, and sustainable investment. By focusing on energy and green technology, water management, agriculture, and digitalization, the event seeks to promote strategic partnerships and develop innovative financing solutions that support long-term, sustainable collaboration between both countries.
Opening the event, Nargis Wieck, Executive Director of the AHK Azerbaijan, emphasized Germany’s strong interest in expanding cooperation with Azerbaijan in energy, infrastructure, agriculture, and digitalization. She noted that these areas are essential for sustainable development and industrial diversification in Azerbaijan. She underlined that innovation, smart technologies, and effective financial instruments will be key to turning joint ideas into practical results.
German Ambassador to Azerbaijan Ralf Horlemann underlined Germany’s strong commitment to deepening economic cooperation with Azerbaijan. He emphasized the positive momentum in bilateral relations, driven by the peace process in the South Caucasus, the renewed EU-Azerbaijan dialogue, and new business initiatives from German companies. “We see enormous potential and positive dynamics, and Germany is ready to seize these opportunities together with its Azerbaijani partners,” the ambassador stated.
Deputy Minister of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Samad Bashirli, emphasized that economic relations between Azerbaijan and Germany are developing successfully. He noted that there is great potential for expanding mutual economic cooperation. Samad Bashirli also provided information about the targets set for diversifying Azerbaijan’s economy, the country’s attractive business and investment environment, its favorable transport and logistics position, the planned public-private partnership and renewable energy projects, as well as the competitive human resource potential.
Throughout the day, the conference offered a diverse program of keynote speeches, expert presentations, interactive panels, sector-specific B2G roundtables, and bilateral matchmaking sessions, providing participants with practical insights into regulatory frameworks, financial instruments, and best practices that drive sustainable growth and collaboration.
Another highlight of the conference was the presentation of the “Market Analysis Azerbaijan 2025–2026” publication, published by AHK Azerbaijan in cooperation with Germany Trade & Invest (GTAI). The study offers a comprehensive overview of key sectors of the Azerbaijani economy and identifies emerging investment opportunities for German companies.
Another key moment of the event was the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding between Siemens Energy Global GmbH & Co. KG and Green Energy Corridor Power Company, marking the signing of a Non-Disclosure Agreement to facilitate cooperation on green energy transmission through High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) technology.
This conference forms part of the strategic roadmap developed by AHK Azerbaijan, in partnership with the German Eastern Business Association (OA) and the Export and Investment Promotion Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan (AZPROMO) and supported by President Ilham Aliyev and Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov, aimed at strengthening long-term economic collaboration between Germany and Azerbaijan.
The event was organised in collaboration with OA, COMMIT Project Partners GmbH, Euler Hermes, German Water Partnership, and AZPROMO.
