As part of the Export Initiative for Environmental Protection funded by the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection, on August 25, 2023, AHK Azerbaijan will held a Webinar to present a framework analysis on the topic "Environment and water resource protection: Measures to modernize water infrastructure in the South Caucasus"

The above-mentioned framework analysis presents the challenges and potential possible approaches for improving water quality, water treatment for drinking water use and agriculture in western Azerbaijan. A special focus here is on the environmental problems of the transboundary rivers such as Kura, Araz and Okchuchay.

Companies from the water and wastewater sectors, environmental experts, research institutes, and experts from related fields such as agriculture, construction or mining from Germany and experts from Azerbaijan are invited to the webinar.

The aim of the webinar is to establish an environmental cluster for the development of sustainable water management in the South Caucasus together with AHK Azerbaijan and the participating companies. The environmental cluster is to network actors from Germany and the South Caucasus and develop solutions that contribute to efficient water supply and wastewater treatment in western Azerbaijan. By co-designing and implementing project ideas using German environmental technologies, participants also gain access to a market with strong potential.

In a study trip to Azerbaijan at the end of October 2023 on the "reconstruction of the water and wastewater infrastructure", the project proposals developed will be presented to the local Azerbaijani water management in addition to participation in a specialist conference and a visit to the affected Karabakh regions.
